Welcome to the show. So one week ago, a concealed bomb in an Iranian guesthouse killed Hamas's political leader Ismail Hania. He has since been replaced by the architect

of the October 7 attacks, Yaya Sinwar.

Most observers blamed Israel for Haniyah's assassination, but more than that, people have been

wondering how Iranian intelligence could have failed to this extent.

Remember, this occurred in a guesthouse controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on

Iranian soil and in the middle of a city already brimming with security for the new Iranian

president's inauguration. And it came just one day after Israel assassinated atop Hezbollah

commander in Beirut. Tehran has vowed it's going to seek vengeance,

so have some of its proxies, but Tehran has also indicated it does not want escalation. At home,

the country is planning for the political succession of its aging supreme leader, and it's

struggling with a mix of economic

problems and popular unrest. But Ayatala Ali Khamenei has ordered a direct attack on Israel
