Summary

In this conversation, Bob sits down with singer, author, and friend Tasha Layton to talk about courage, fear, and what it looks like to keep moving forward when life gets messy. Tasha shares the story behind her song Meet Me in the Valley and the surprising decision to spend three days alone in Death Valley with nothing but prayer requests, a tent, and a lot of honesty about what she was feeling.

Together they talk about why we can’t go around the hard parts of life, why emotions are often roadmaps instead of problems, and how remembering who we are can help us take the next courageous step forward.

Hey everybody. Welcome to the Bob and Friends podcast. Hope it's been a great week for you.

0:12.4

If it's like a normal week, there's probably some awesome stuff that happened and then some

0:16.5

other stuff where you really got your ears boxed. And the trick is to understand what it is,

0:23.2

like what is working, what's not working, and then figure out like, so what's the courageous

0:28.7

way forward? If faith guides your steps, you'll like take it to Jesus. If faith doesn't guide

0:33.7

your steps, you say, like, what's the most trustworthy person that I could take

0:38.2

that to that's safe? And you'll know you have the right person because they're not going to tell you

0:42.2

what to do that will remind you about who you already are. And this is a great segue to my friend Tasha,

0:48.8

who has been in my life as a person who is great at telling people, like tapping them on the shoulder

0:56.9

and reminding them about how God sees them, who they really were before life got crazy.

1:03.8

And she does it in music, but she does it in person.

1:06.5

So Tasha, thanks so much for being part of the podcast.

1:09.5

Oh, I'm so happy to be here, Bob. I love how you just

1:12.8

introduced me. I think that's the most honoring thing you could have ever said. I think there's

1:18.1

something beautiful and difficult. Some people know you because of the music you play, but the neat

1:24.1

part about having like a peek behind the curtain at you and this beautiful marriage

1:29.8

and kids and life and all the stuff is that there's it's difficult and you don't pick up on

1:36.8

that in the middle of verse two of song five but how do you navigate the complexities of life I I know you've written some books. I think you just

1:47.8

got in from the desert. I did, which we can talk about that later. We have some things to discuss

1:54.8

here, don't we, Bob? But I try to take time. You know, there's a reason scripture says to Sabbath. And there is a rhythm that our bodies were made to operate by. And I try to take the time I need to breathe, to reduce the noise, to take inventory.

2:26.2

And, you know, that's really how I navigate the challenges of being a wife who works with her husband.

2:28.0

You know, that's a whole other thing.
