Summary

What can you learn about yourself in 21 days? More than you think, as a fun and attainable challenge a group of us participated in on a new app called "SPAR." SPAR is an accountability app that allows you to create group challenges. The challenge is whatever you want it to be, and people must check in every day or week, depending how you structure it. If you miss a check-in, you pay a financial penalty, which goes into a pot. At the end of the challenge, the pot is split among people who checked in every day. Go to Cernovich.com/SPAR for details on the next one.

Cernovich.com CERN O v I cch.com I did this nifty little challenge with an app called

0:11.0

SPAR SPAR and it was pretty cool. We learned a lot together, the whole group of us learned a lot together. It was a joint challenge that I should have advertised more widely on the email list from the podcast but I'll let you guys and

0:25.2

gals and on the next one so what is SPAR it's a group challenge-based app where

0:30.7

you set something that you have to do you have to check in it could be a

0:35.1

daily check in or weekly check in and if you don't check in you pay a penalty

0:38.8

the penalty ranges from three dollars I believe to ten dollars a day, and it goes as follows.

0:44.6

So I'll just tell you the challenge we did.

0:46.3

The challenge was for 21 days, every day you had to do something physical,

0:50.6

and you had to read a book uninterrupted for 30 days.

0:54.0

Now physical challenge, I kept it loose, I kept the challenge loose for a number of reasons.

0:58.0

One is if you have a really big penalty for a spar,

1:02.0

there's a pot that gets big and everybody who checks in every day shares

1:05.9

in that pot. So you're going to attract a lot of just cheaters. There's a lot of people

1:09.5

who will just jump into every kind of challenge they can and to claim money and that was never really

1:16.9

the idea. It was more like a peer pressure kind of thing and that's also why we kept physical activity very loose.

1:27.3

So for me 21 days I did something physical. Physical again we defined as spa infrared sauna plunge, or athletic activity lifting.

1:35.0

So I'd either lifted, hiked, or walked at least five miles every day for 20 days,

1:40.0

and one of the days I did contrast therapy a lot of stretching.

1:45.0

Because again, the game isn't to make it hard so that people can't check in.

1:50.0

A few lessons I learned too especially about traveling and

1:54.0

especially why I think the app is really cool really good I was in you know I travel a lot
