Summary

On today’s episode, I sit down (again) with Sarah Levy, my friend and now published author of Drinking Games. We discuss green flags she saw with her now husband, moving for a partner, making new friends when you move to a new place, being sober at your wedding. how her and her husband split finances, how to create financial freedom, how to bring up sobriety to future kids, what happens after you get sober, and more. This episode starts with a solo where I discuss how to become a high value person, integrating with SO’s friend group, expectations vs reality being married, if opposites attract or birds of a feather flock together, how to express needs and expectations without sounding bitchy, and how to know what fights are worth working through.

little solo part possibly a little longer because I did cut out some stuff from the episode that

I'm not necessarily ready to share yet. So we have more time to chat just us. Okay. I ask you to,

1:01.4

as always, you know, submit what you want me to talk about. And I actually asked you what you

1:07.0

wanted to hear about for a solo episode. But I'm going to take some of it and talk about some

1:14.2

of it now and save some of it for the dedicated solo episode for this month.

So the first, oh, wait, let me tell you about New Year's. I forgot that I'm a person who does

1:28.4

things sometimes. New Year's was so much fun. So Steven and I kind of think of New Year's as our

1:38.9

anniversary because we ran into each other at this New Year's party in 2019. And after that, we kind

1:49.2

of were on each other's minds and, you know, ended up starting to date and now we're married.

1:55.0

And so every year since then, we have gone, except for one year, which was the major pandemic,

2:01.7

no one was doing anything. The party didn't exist. We have gone back to that party. And it's been kind

2:07.7

of like a cute little anniversary for us. And this was the third year. And we decided to go back.

2:14.9

But this is definitely a party that like is we are out growing. Everyone at this party is like 25,

2:21.9

24, 23. And there are some usual suspects, like some people that we see every year that were like,

2:27.8

oh, hey, but for the most part, we are probably out growing it. But it is so fun because there's a DJ,
