I mentioned last week that we'd be spending some time here on the podcast, diving into

the larger conversations that got started by the surviving Arkely Docky series.

Since we last chatted, I've made a YouTube video about ways you can take care of yourself

if you found yourself triggered by either the Docky series or the conversation surrounding

it.

And I also appeared on the NPR News Show 1A to discuss how Black women have been impacted

by the Docky series and some of the factors that have allowed this type of behavior to

continue in our community.

What is it about hearing these stories that is the most effective?

I think the level of details that were shared impacted people, but I also think I have

seen a lot of conversation from women thinking back about relationships they may have had

with older men when they were younger and not necessarily recognizing that as maybe

an abusive situation then, but now being able to reflect back in thinking that really
