| 0:00.0 | This is the Cato Daily Podcast for Wednesday, May 8th, 2019. I'm Caleb Brown. |
| 0:09.0 | The maximum pressure the US hopes to impose on Iran is causing some problems for US allies. |
| 0:15.6 | It's also punishing Iran for complying with the Iran nuclear deal. |
| 0:20.2 | And it may encourage the country to escalate into a more threatening crisis. |
| 0:25.0 | Cato's John Glazer and Emma Ashford discussed the strategy now at work against Iran. |
| 0:30.0 | So there's a couple of ways we can look at this. |

| 1:31.6 | particularly high right now primarily because the |
| 1:34.8 | Trump administration has been relentless in its approach on economic sanctions |
| 1:40.0 | we've just begun to or I think this month we're eliminating the waivers for |
| 1:47.7 | countries to import Iranian oil which is gonna do more harm to the Iranian economy. |
| 1:55.0 | It's also causing problems with our allies and roiling oil markets to one degree or another. |
| 2:02.0 | And so the temperature is quite high. gets to one degree or another. |
