I've got Steve Richards here down the line from a red hot typewriter, or modern

equivalent. Ian Martin is about to join us when he's made his way through the terrible,

rainy London traffic. Tim, unfortunately, can't be with us this week, but three of us will gather,

so we will be quarry to discuss an extraordinary few

days of political news.

Anyway, Miranda, I'm pleased it's just us too, because if you remember when you and I

couldn't make it, Tim and Ian just abused the freedom that they were suddenly granted by being appalling for an hour.

I'm still sort of, you know, dealing with the blowback, actually.

So am I. So should we behave as appallingly? Do you think, Steve? Or do you think we should take the moral high ground?

Should we do an hour of Romaniac pro-European propaganda?

On Brexit, putting defence spending into a wider proportionate picture,

explaining what immigration and asylum really mean.

And let's not forget net zero in the climate.

And of course, yeah, there are other great preoccupation.

Well, you know, so however, there are other things around.

Well, yeah, exactly.

I feel like we should sort of take a rain check on that. And one day when both of them are on a sunlanger somewhere, we will truly get our revenge.

We will. We will. All of that. But in the meantime, we are in a week where one of the luminaries of the contemporary Labour Party, Peter Mandelson, is plunged, his reputation is plunged into the mire where it has been before, but it now seems to be entirely terminal to his career.

So I think we're going to have to concentrate on that, aren't we?
