Summary

I’ve been spending time in 2 Corinthians 2:14–16, where Paul says that as believers we are the aroma of Christ. It’s such a beautiful and sobering picture to think about how our lives, our words, our attitudes, and even the atmosphere of our homes are meant to reflect Him. In this episode, we talk about what it means to carry the fragrance of Christ in the ordinary moments of everyday life. The hidden faithfulness, the quiet sacrifices, the ways the Lord is shaping us through our daily work, our relationships, and even the moments where we feel our need for His grace most deeply. This was such a good reminder to my own heart that the gospel is not just for the big moments of life. We need it right in the middle of our ordinary Tuesday afternoons too. I pray this episode encourages you to keep looking to Christ and to remember that the Lord is faithfully at work in all the everyday moments of life at home.Head over to ThankfulHomemaker.com for full show notes on all the links and resources mentioned in today's episode.  Homemaking Matters: Living for God's Glory in the Ordinary RELATED EPISODES: EP 161: Cultivating Biblical Hospitality in Your Home and Life EP 15: Prioritizing God’s Word When Life is Busy EP 118: Cultivating Patience with One Another Homemaking Matters: Why the Work You Do at Home Matters to God RESOURCES: Join Thankful Homemaker for access to the Free Library of Resources Follow ThankfulHomemaker on Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest & Instagram Join the Thankful Homemaker Facebook Group Subscribe to the Podcast on Your Favorite App  Online Courses & Printables Thankful Homemaker Merchandise Buy Marci a Cup of Coffee xo

I'm so thankful you've stopped by.

So grab yourself a coffee or tea and sit with me a bit as we talk about how God's

Hello, friend. I'm Marcy Farrell from Thankful Homemaker, and I'm so glad to be here with

0:31.7

you today. I recently finished reading through 2 Corinthians, and I've been especially

0:36.7

encouraged by 2 Corinthians

0:39.2

chapter 2, 14 to 16. It's one of those passages that grows richer the more you meditate on it,

0:46.5

because Paul gives us this beautiful and weighty picture when he says that we are the aroma of Christ,

0:52.6

not that we carry it occasionally or display it when we're doing well,

0:56.7

but that we are it. Our lives in Christ are meant to give off something that reflects him wherever we are.

1:03.7

And before we go any further, I just want to step back just a minute here because this

1:07.3

picture of a fragrance is such a tangible one. And I think so often one of the

1:12.5

powerful senses the Lord has given us is the sense of smell. It amazes me how a particular scent

1:19.0

can bring back a memory that in my mind I thought was long forgotten. But for me, I can find myself

1:25.2

baking my grandmother's banana cake recipe.

1:31.9

And as that smell fills the air, I'm suddenly taken right back.

1:42.2

And I can picture her, I can even picture the kitchen, but I can picture her standing in the kitchen with her apron on and singing all the time singing or humming as she went about her work. And it's a memory for me that doesn't just remind me of

1:44.8

her, but it reminds me of being loved. There's something about a fragrance that lingers. It leaves,

1:52.3

especially a pleasant one, right? It leaves an impression. It stays with you. And that's exactly

1:57.4

the picture that Paul is giving us here. I want to read these verses to us.

2:07.6

So I'm reading 2 Corinthians chapter 2 verses 14 to 16. But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge
