Understanding God requires revelation from the Holy Spirit. Religious leaders must grasp foundational truths. Intellect and status cannot replace a relationship with God. Strict adherence to the law is insufficient for true faith. A wake-up call is necessary for spiritual leaders. The essence of faith is about relationship, not rules. God's kingdom is fundamentally about understanding truth. Relying on the Holy Spirit is crucial for understanding. The journey of faith involves recognizing our limitations.  Chapters 00:00 The Spiritual Hunger of Nicodemus 01:03 The Ongoing Process of Spiritual Transformation Bible, Bible Study, Devotions, Devotional, Daily Devotional, Prayer, Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, Spiritual Growth, hearing God’s voice, Hearing God, Hearing Jesus, Praying, Pray, God’s Word, Scriptures Hearing Jesus, Knowing God's Voice, Female Prophets, Bible Study, Spiritual Growth, Christian Podcast, Faith Journey, Obedience, God's Communication, Personal Reflections, prophecy, faith, surrender, spiritual gifts, women's ministry, Christian podcast Learn more about your ad choices. Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast, where I help you to know God and to make him known.

0:11.9

Lately, I've been hearing a lot from people who feel like they're doing all the things right, spiritually speaking.

0:19.3

They're reading their Bibles.

0:20.7

They're going to church. They're

0:21.7

even serving in their local body of believers. And yet, there's still a deep hunger inside for

That's actually where we find Nicodemus in today's story. Now,

0:39.0

if you don't remember, Nicodemus was a Pharisee. He was really well respected in that culture,

0:44.2

and he was a member of the Sanhedron. He came to Jesus at nighttime because there was a little bit

of shame around the fact that he wanted to seek out something more.

0:56.3

He came to Jesus out of curiosity.

1:07.1

But for him, there was something else going on in his heart.

1:12.9

And the interesting thing about that conversation was he didn't get what he was expecting from Jesus. He didn't get a

1:19.4

theological debate. Instead, he got this invitation. It's one of the most famous passages of

1:25.3

scripture, and we're going to unpack that in today's

1:27.6

episode.

1:28.4

So I'm going to be reading out loud from the NASB version of scripture.

1:33.7

It's one of my favorites.

1:34.8

But again, like I said yesterday, you just read from your favorite, whatever one you're

1:39.1

going to stick with and that you can understand consistently, then that's the version that
