Summary

To be blessed means to holy, and to be holy means to be set apart for God.

Fr. Mike reminds us of our calling to be holy, because, as Christians, we have been blessed by Baptism.

Being set apart doesn't mean to be physically separated from everything else. It means that something is dedicated to fulfilling God's purpose.

For example, if you've ever gotten your throat blessed during the feast of St. Blasie, then your throat is set apart for the purposes of God. That means when you use your voice to say something untrue or mean, you're violating the purpose of your voice, because it has been dedicated to God's will.

So, be blessed.

Make God’s will present in the world through your presence.

0:07.0	One of the many gifts that we do is we bless things.

0:13.5	well, what does it mean for something to be blessed?
0:15.5	That is a great question, camper.
0:17.2	What does it mean for something to be blessed?
0:22.7	Here's my attempt at an answer.
0:24.7	When something is blessed, it is made, it's made holy.
0:28.2	That was something that was blessed, it is made holy.
0:30.6	What does it to be made holy?
0:32.6	Well, in ancient Israel, in the Old Testament, to be holy,
0:35.9	that here's God's people, the people of Israel,
0:37.9	the chosen people of God were called to be holy.
0:41.2	And that's often interpreted, in many many ways.
0:43.4	It's really complex term, right?
0:45.0	But it's often interpreted in the sense of that,
0:47.4	okay, you're my people, therefore you're holy,
0:49.1	meaning you're set apart.
0:51.0	That you're not like everyone else.
0:53.6	You're holy, like I'm holy.
