In 1 Timothy 2, the Apostle Paul gives instructions to both men and women related to how they should behave in the church.

He tells men to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or quarreling.

He tells women to adorn themselves with modesty and self-control, learning quietly and with all submissiveness.

But then he goes on to say that women are not to teach or exercise authority over a man,

but are instead to remain silent.

What is Paul saying in this passage?

Why does he say it?

And what impact should it have on how men and women view their roles in the church?
