Summary
"What does self-knowledge taste like, feel like? I assume it is not completely flavourless! The Self knows itself, of its own accord, without the intervention of any means. It cannot be described because it is not in the realm of comparison or complementarity. You cannot smell incense burning nor see the leaf of a plant without using the corresponding sensory organ, but consciousness knows itself all the while the varied aspects of manifestation occur. Water is not altered by the many different fish swimming in its depths, it is ever water. I can give you another analogy. You only taste the things that are in your mouth, the objects, but the mouth has its own taste."
-Jean Klein, I Am
"...when all taste is eliminated from the mouth, you arrive at the taste of the mouth itself. "
-Jean Klein, I Am
"Thoughts come and go. Feelings come and go. Find out what it is that remains."
- Ramana Maharshi
"You are awareness. Awareness is another name for you. Since you are awareness there is no need to attain or cultivate it. All that you have to do is to give up being aware of other things, that is of the not-Self. If one gives up being aware of them then pure awareness alone remains, and that is the Self."
- Ramana Maharshi
"Everything is impermanent, except the love of God."
- Maharajji
"To have continuous water supply in a city, the pumps must be working day and night. Likewise, in order to keep the heart filled with sweetness of the Divine presence, constant remembrance of Him is essential."
- Anandamayi Ma
"Whenever you possibly can, sustain the flow of a sacred Name. To repeat His Name is to be in His presence."
- Anandamayi Ma
Today's Practice:
Stay aware of the taste of God's Love during every seeming appearance, just as you could stay aware of the taste of the mouth itself while tasting your food. No matter how bitter or sweet the flavor of the moment, it can't mask the Divine Sweetness of Love. It can't make you forget your Self. Take a mantra and keep it on your lips and tongue at all times, so that you may taste the Love you are constantly. Taste and SEE.
I Love you,
Nik
