What do you wish you'd learn sooner?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately because I have a daughter and now two daughters you want to teach them things.

You want to teach them truths about the world.

It complicates matters and makes you reflect on yourself, what do you know?

Because you can only teach your children what you know.

It's sort of banal and yet it's also profound.

I've been doing vocabulary games with my daughter my oldest one she's a couple years old and she can repeat almost any word

That I say and I'm thinking bro. You need to up your own vocabulary game. I'm doing a teaching company lecture in fact on vocabulary because

Mountibank for example is a great word. She could pronounce it and I'm always thinking I have to learn more so I can teach her more.

And then of course you think, well what am I teaching them and why?

And then you think, well, what do I know about the world?

And then you think, what do you wish you would learn sooner?

And I've been wracking my brain about it.

And I don't have a great answer.

And I'll tell you why it isn't because I know everything.

It's because I always tried to learn things when I was very young. I was reading books on how to throw a punch

from boxing. I was a total book guy throughout my whole life. And I always feel like I learned

things at the right time. There were hard lessons of course I a lot of

learning is through suffering people don't always understand or appreciate that.

You have to have an incentive to learn and oftentimes that incentive to learn is
