Well, hello there. It's Morgan here. And today I'm going to be talking about what do you do when you want to bring other people along who don't want to come with you?

0:10.8

And I want to share some things that I've observed. And it's through the lens of an experience that I had about a cartoon and not the cartoon itself, but some of

0:22.5

the interactions that were happening around it. So recently I came across a clip on social media of

0:28.9

a cartoon that I grew up watching and I was reading the comments and I was surprised because so

0:36.6

many of the people in the comments were saying,

0:39.5

oh, this show was so scary to me. And as someone who is pretty easily scared when it comes to

0:49.5

things on television, I don't love suspense and scary things. That's just not something that I am seeking.

0:57.2

I don't seek that. And I was, I was shocked because I was like, I'm somebody who was not scared

things that I find scary other people are like oh it was just a show I'm like not to me that

1:22.3

that really got to me so I was really surprised by by the comments And then I realized something. A lot of the people who

1:39.7

Just by that three, four year, five year age difference, them encountering a particular media.

1:47.5

And it's not about a particular show.

1:49.1

This can happen with anything where them encountering a particular thing has had an impact

1:56.2

on them in a way that was different from me.

1:59.1

He was slightly older.

2:00.6

And it got me thinking about how

2:02.9

the nuances of story and not just the story itself, but the nuances of the people who are

2:10.4

encountering and experiencing something, someone hearing something at 12 versus someone hearing it

2:17.0

at 15 versus someone hearing it for the first time at 18, even if they are sonically hearing the same thing, visually experiencing the same thing, whatever it is, by them just being, even if they're siblings, by them just being at different ages, they're going to experience that media in a different way.
