Have you been wondering why your breath smells like acetone on keto? Or, maybe your breath smells like nail polish remover while on keto. Well, in this video I’m going to explain why this happens and what to do about keto breath.

There are three types of ketones:

 • Beta-hydroxybutyrate

 • Acetoacetate

 • Acetone

Acetone is the ketone that has the same chemistry as nail polish remover. If your body is making acetone from fat, it’s not toxic. However, if you consume acetone, it is very toxic. Consuming nail polish remover is not the same as going into ketosis.

Acetone comes out of your breath while you’re still adapting to running on ketones. This can give you acetone breath on keto until you become fully keto-adapted. If your breath smells fruity or like nail polish remover, it’s a sign that you’re in ketosis. The smell is just temporary.

Benefits of ketosis:

 • Hunger goes down

 • More weight loss

 • Decreased inflammation

 • Better blood sugar stabilization

0:58.8

They're used as fuel.

1:00.1

There's three of them.

This is the one that is the nail polish remover. Of course when your body is making it it's non-toxic.

1:14.7

When you purchase it and use it as nail polish remover it's very toxic but

1:19.2

recently I was reading some comments on one of my YouTube videos and someone asked a question,

1:25.0

if I consume now polish remover would that be the same as going into ketosis?

1:31.0

And no it's not going to be the same. That is very very toxic and this is very

1:36.9

very safe. Okay so no don't consume your nail polish remover. What happens when you start

1:42.3

ketosis is that you start to generate more

1:46.3

and more ketones. And when you're burning up fat, it's not very efficient. You're wasting a lot of fat feel which is a good thing because you want to lose fat

1:56.4

so when you initially get into ketosis you are actually peeing out ketones and you're breathing out ketones and that's what this is all about right here.

2:05.0

So you're actually breathing out and peeing out actual fat particles.

2:09.7

How cool is that?

2:10.7

If you have this nail polished breath or a fruity breath realize it's only

transitional it will go away as you do this more and more and as your body
