I keep meeting Marxists at bars.

Is this happening to you?

Because I thought we beat those guys.

Like real hard.

Like 40 million dead Maoists hard.

Yet, here in the last couple of I'll saunter up to some local watering

hole and I'll be damned if I don't wind up arguing with the full-blown Marxist. But it occurred to me. I don't actually know what Marxists think.

Pretty sure they're wrong about whatever it is, to the tune of give or take 40 million dead Chinese, but a central

tenant of this program is to engage in contrary opinions in good faith rather than cater to confirmation bias or

tribalism. And if I am indeed going to lock horns with communism and

statism and Marxism on a regular basis, I think it is incumbent communism and

stateism on a regular basis, I think it is incumbent upon me

to make sure I am not fighting strawmen.

So I took it upon myself to read the Communist Manifesto and to invite a Marxist public intellectual

to join us on today's program and explained the Marxist position, ideology, and worldview.

Not a random bar fly, mind you, but a well-respected thought leader.

Actually, it took considerable effort

to get a Marxist to agree to come on the program.

I think because, in all actuality, while a lot of people purport to be socialists,

not a lot of folks self-identify as Marxists.
