I think deep down inside, we're all afraid of dying.

And to start looking at purpose and identity is actually to say, life is finite.

I might not reach my goals.

I may die one day and not get there.

So I'm going to start today thinking about purpose and identity.

It's so uncomfortable to do that.

It's facing your own mortality.

No one wants to do that.

So instead, we look at these achievements, these goals. Maybe's facing your own mortality. No one wants to do that. So instead we look at these

achievements, these goals. Maybe it's some net worth. Maybe it's some job title. The problem is,

again, we get to the top of the mountain to that place we think our goal is, and then we look up higher

and see there are more peaks along the way. It's because we're focusing on probably something that truly isn't meeting our needs,

but it's easy so we keep doing it.
