Hello, and welcome to the Byron York Show, the no-chit chat podcast.

We like to get right into it, and what we're going to get into today is there's a new

Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

You may have heard, but what we're going to get into is what can that House majority

actually do?

To start with, you need to go back a few months, September 23rd of last year midterm

campaigning.

Kevin McCarthy, who was then the House minority leader, travels to Pennsylvania, and he's

going to unveil the Republican Party's new midterm campaign platform.

They'd worked on it for months, done a lot of folks groups and polling and had a million

meetings on it, and so it's going to be the new platform.

It's called the Commitment to America.

Okay, so McCarthy said it was a plan for a new direction.

I'm going to quote him here.

We want to roll it out to you to the entire country so you know exactly what we will do.

If you would trust us and give us the ability to take a new direction for this country.

Okay, so then they roll it out.

Now, you can look at it on the web in various levels of detail, but lawmakers, when they

do these sort of things, often create a pocket card version of it, the little thing they

can put in their coat pocket and pull out and show everybody and read.

And so it was with the Commitment to America divided into four parts.
