0:00.0	Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast, where I help you to know God and to make him known.
0:11.8	Over the years, I've had a number of mentors who have essentially been responsible for changing my life.
0:19.2	There's a couple really significant people
0:21.9	that I'm so thankful for how God used them. And there's something really powerful about being
0:28.8	able to introduce those people to maybe my spouse or my kids. It's this powerful moment where I get
0:35.5	to say, this is someone that you really need to meet.
0:39.2	Well, that's essentially what's happening in today's passage.
0:42.5	John the Baptist sees Jesus coming to him, and he doesn't hesitate.
0:46.9	He says, behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
0:52.0	And so with one sentence, he reveals the identity and the mission of Jesus
0:55.9	in a way that no one had ever said before. That moment revealed something about Jesus, but it also
1:04.1	revealed something about John. John recognized Jesus when he was on the scene. He had been preparing for this moment his entire life.
1:13.8	And when the moment came, he did not miss it. And so today we're walking through verses 29 through 42
1:20.0	in John chapter 1. And this is where Jesus begins to step into public ministry. And he starts to call
1:26.2	his first disciples. We're going to look at how
1:30.1	John recognizing Jesus prepared the way for other people to recognize him and how when we recognize
1:37.3	Jesus, it can do the same for those around us. I'm going to go ahead and read verse by verse like we've been doing with the rest of John
1:45.5	chapter 1, starting at verse 29. The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said,
1:52.4	Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. So this is a massive moment. The day
1:59.1	after John's conversation with the religious leaders, which we talked about in yesterday's episode, he sees Jesus coming and he makes this bold declaration.
2:07.2	He says, behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
2:12.2	That word behold, it's actually a command to stop.
