This is CBS. I'm John Baxter with Thaddez McCarar, my colleague and co-hosts, and Malcolm Honline, back from the road. That is?

Malcolm, there's a report that Hamas had another plan to commit an October 7th type attack. What can you tell us about that?

That is exactly correct. The

IDF captured Hamas attack plans that would have targeted the communities in Judean, Samaria,

and the West Bank, and along the seam zone, the defense minister told a conference about the

captured files, which show that they would have attacked along the pre-67 borders,

and it shows why these communities are so important as a buffer to protect the major cities of Israel.

And they say that they are moving to more offensive stance,

and that is why Israeli troops have had to go into some of the areas, isolated areas,

the Jabalya, and even for weeks on end, to root out the infrastructure that has been placed there.

And it is very extensive manufacturing plants for weapons.

The Iranians have been providing weapons to them and smuggling it in and cash and other resources.

And the main takeaway from October 7th, they say that you can't allow radical organizations

be present near any of its borders, or within the borders, frankly.

And so they are going after them.

And we saw that even in regard to Judean Samaria, Iran has been providing the weapons, the funding guidance to establish

battalions and create an Eastern Front against Israeli communities. The Janine refugee camp

is now empty of residence and the IDF is there because that's the only way they can

deal with the structure, including underground structures and weapons cash and things that,

and remember, this is in the heart of Israel.

So they have to take stringent steps in order to cleanse it of that presence.

The problem is, how do you do this in the long term?
