What you're hearing here is the water going through my downspout, but as I leave the porch, it doesn't feel like it's raining

much, but I'm still going to open the umbrella because we're supposed to have rain most of the

morning, if not most of the day.

I started walking for fitness in 1993.

The school where I taught in North Texas

was starting a walking fitness contest.

We were to walk intentionally every day

and keep track of those minutes on a chart

in the teacher's lounge.

It was called Minute Mania, and it continued annually.

We won T-shirts, pedometers, mugs, all kinds of fun stuff.

This was right up my alley.

I had a one-year-old at the time.

I put her in her stroller, and we'd walk all over the neighborhood.

Like you with your step tracker, that's when I fell in love with walking.

And Patty has been walking as a fitness habit since then.
