I'm joined, very pleased to be joined by Karen McGuire, who's written a book called The Price of

Football that we're going to talk about.

But the first thing I want to say, Keering and I think you're at pains to say it yourself,

really in the book is that you like football.

And I think, you know, one of the things when you talk about football finance and write about

football finance, you in your own introduction you're desperate to say

listen we shouldn't have to worry about this sort of thing but we do and this is me just

trying to make sure you you understand the way in which this stuff works that, I think it's a fair comment here.

In an idea, well, none of this would be an issue.

But football is so all-encompassing for our lives

that all aspects of football these days, we become... for our rivals. So I mean I teach at the University of Liverpool I'm lucky enough to

teach football finance which is getting paid for just talking nonsense really.

It's a they're fantastic fun to work for let's

pull the house of cards down around us so there wasn't a book for my students so I was sort of strong-armed into writing one and it was a very very painful experience

It's thorough There's no shot of it out there.

It seems to me as though in understanding

the way football finance works,

it is all very much about building blocks,

but there's something else as well,

which I want to sort of,

and I think it's important again to say this out the front you do mention it
