Welcome to another episode of Lurie Breaks It Down, a podcast where we dig deeply to connect the dots on the issues that shape our world.

I'm Lurie Daniel Favors, author, activist, attorney, and the host of the Lurie Daniel Favors show on Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay, thank you so much. Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. All right, everybody, it is Wednesday, October the 22nd. Let's get into some of the

0:56.0

news of the day. I got to be honest with you. It really must be hard out here for, you know,

1:02.4

mediocre white women who have to cosplay as qualified lawyers. I mean, it's got to be hard because

1:07.2

I just have to look at an example presented by one Lindsay Halligan and I can assess,

1:12.5

yeah, that's a hard life. Don't believe me? Well, let's ask Lindsay. You remember Lindsay. Lindsay

1:18.4

Halligan is the wholly unqualified attorney who started her career as a beauty queen because,

1:23.7

of course, Trump administration. And that was all before she landed a push job as an

1:27.8

insurance lawyer, where she never had to actually do the difficult work of prosecuting a single

1:33.0

case. Now, I have to pause here and apologize to my friends who are a part of the insurance law

1:38.0

bar. Y'all going to catch some strays because, frankly, you got a whole member of your community

1:42.9

who was out here making you look bad.

1:46.2

Now, one thing I love about insurance lawyers is that when you need an insurance lawyer,

1:49.5

you want a good one. And maybe perhaps Lindsay's good at that.

1:53.6

But being an insurance lawyer does not, let me repeat myself, does not qualify you in any way, shape, or form to prosecute cases,

2:02.9

particularly when you are required to prosecute cases for the first time in one of the most

2:07.9

experienced prosecutorial offices in the land.

2:11.6

But let me back up just a little bit, just so y'all don't think I'm being mean to poe little

2:15.7

low, Lindsay.

2:16.4

And y'all, again, might think I'm being a little mean. I'm okay with that because sometimes you got to be mean. According to Liz Die, who is a columnist who writes for Above the Law, she contributes at Wonkett and Public Notice, and she is the co-host of the Law and Chaos Podcast. Lindsay Halligan is giving all of us a really great example of what it means to fail upwards, fail forwards, fail backwards, fail backwards, fail sideways, and still be considered qualified to sit in positions that overly qualified black women would actually have to work for. But there's nothing like failing spectacularly in the public, especially when we have some really concrete examples of what a successful

2:52.7

occupant of a position should look like. And we can compare what a successful model would be

2:58.5

to what the current occupant of that seat looks like. And well, frankly, we are reminded as to why
