Summary

Weekly Wrap Up- Women in the Life of Jesus- Week 3- The Woman Caught in Adultery   The thing about sin is that very few of us start out with the intention to sin. We kind of just end up there. When we feel powerless to overcome that struggle in our lives, that’s where Jesus steps in to meet us with a balance of truth and grace.   Apart from Him, we can do nothing. It’s time we stop trying to deal with the stain of sin on our own. We have all been there and we will be there again. The reality is we are all guilty. That’s why we need Jesus.   Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast.   Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God’s voice or if it’s really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life?   Hey, I’m your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I too was doubting God’s voice in my own life. I too felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn’t quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn’t qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do.   The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God’s word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life.   Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His.   The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open.   Join me for your weekly dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.   Learn -> https://shehears.org Connect -> rachael@shehears.org Community->Christian Women's Daily Bible Study Group Instagram-> https://www.instagram.com/she_hears/       Want to go a little deeper?   Purchase the She Hears: Learning to Listen to Jesus Bible Study : https://shehears.org/resources   In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be.   Need to chat one on one? Hi everyone. We have just finished up week three and I wanted to kind of just touch base with you a little bit before we move on to week four.

0:08.5

We are now officially through the halfway point of our study and I hope that you are just really learning more about Jesus, more about yourself, more about the ways that he desires to communicate with you.

0:20.7

And I am praying for you to communicate with you, and I am praying

0:21.5

for you to just continue to grow and learn throughout the second half of this study.

We just finished learning about the woman that was caught in adultery, and last week's video

0:32.5

touched on some of this in a similar way, but I did want to continue to share a little bit of my heart for the

0:40.9

reason why I wrote on the woman caught in adultery and you'll notice in the book she's not called

0:48.3

the woman caught in adultery she called she's called woman and I think if I had said woman caught in adultery, you would

0:55.9

have immediately known who she was. But I didn't do that for a couple of reasons. I think, first

1:00.6

of all, throughout history, scholars have called her that, and we've heard sermons of her called

1:06.5

that. And we've learned about her as that. And my hesitation with that is I have, although I've not

1:15.0

been involved specifically in committing adultery, I have been somebody that has been guilty of

1:20.4

sin. We all have. And I thought about how I would feel if I was being associated and named, you know, the woman caught in jealousy

1:30.6

or the woman caught in, you know, insert sin here. And I think what we see after, and hopefully

1:39.0

you've seen this after studying this whole week, is that Jesus has a different perspective.

1:43.5

He just calls her woman.

1:45.2

And I think what's interesting about that, if you remember back to chapter one, woman is the

1:49.6

same term of endearment he used for his mother. And so this isn't just a disrespectful woman,

1:55.2

get over here type mentality, but it's a compassionate, loving way to address her. And I thought about my own heart and my own

2:07.5

posture when I was entrenched in sin. And, you know, the thing about sin is very little of us

2:15.2

start off with the intention of sinning. It's not like we'd get up in the morning and we say, okay, well, I'm going to sin today. Maybe some of us start off with the intention of sinning.

2:21.0

It's not like we'd get up in the morning and we say, okay, well, I'm going to sin today.
