Absolutely. We have a great experiment to help answer this one. Here's what you'll need.

Half a cup of rolled oats, a quarter cup of boiling water, a quarter cup of cold tap water, one teaspoon of sugar, two small bowls, liquid measuring cup, quarter cup dry measuring cup, spoon, masking tape, marker,

and some way to boil water. I'll be using a tea kettle.
