Yesterday, former President Trump was found liable for the sexual abuse and defamation

of columnist E. Jean Carroll.

After three hours of deliberation, a Manhattan jury of six men and three women unanimously

found former President Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in 1996 and defaming

her by calling her allegations of abuse a hoax and a lie last October.

They did not find him liable of rape.

This was a civil trial, not a criminal trial, which means there was a lower burden of

proof and Mr. Trump faces no prison time.

He was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million.

After the verdict, the former President claimed that he has no idea who this woman is,

criticized the trial as being politically motivated and promised to appeal.
