It's Wednesday, March 18, 2006. I'm Albert Moller, and this is the briefing, a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview.

0:13.5

We are facing an avalanche of headlines, and let's face it, so many of them right now are coming, primarily about the joint American-Israeli military action against Iran.

0:24.4

And, you know, from time to time, Christians need to step back and say, okay, what are the big

0:28.2

issues here? Because we're talking about so many headlines, it's hard to even keep up with them.

0:33.9

And of course, yesterday we had the major headlines about an Israeli strike that took out two of the

0:39.9

main military leaders there in Iran. And of course, that's a thinning group to begin with.

0:45.2

That includes Ali Larziani, who was the head of the countries that's Iran's Supreme National

1:37.6

So let's just step back for a moment.

1:39.4

1:42.6

What do we call what is going on right now

1:45.6

in and over and around Iran? Is it a war? Well, the president even used that word when he was

1:52.8

making initial announcements to the United States concerning the joint U.S. Israeli action,

1:58.8

but it's not a war in terms of the fact that the president has not

2:02.6

requested for Congress to issue an official declaration of war. In the Constitution, that's

2:09.0

an Article I power invested in the Congress. But the president is commander-in-chief,
