Hey guys, I want to talk to you today about the futility of trying to serve Jesus in the flesh.

0:08.5

Sometimes we're ready to fight for Jesus. We're ready to stand for Jesus boldly. But sometimes

0:14.4

that's just really a measure of our pride. Sometimes the most difficult thing is not to respond. Sometimes the most poignant strength in our

0:25.1

life is to let God do the thing that he's doing, even though it might make us look bad in the

1:46.0

recognize our weakness. We think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think. We don't need to pray.

1:51.4

We don't need the power of God. We don't need wisdom. And therefore, we don't pray. And I say that tongue

1:57.0

in cheek, of course, but think about what Peter had already protested. Hey, it'll

2:02.2

never happen to me. It'll never happen to me. The disciples said, it'll never happen to us.

2:06.5

We'll never do that. So when we disagree with the Lord, when we think of ourselves more highly

2:11.5

than we ought to think, when we put our confidence in our own flesh, then we are doomed to fail. And that's exactly what happened
