It seems like just yesterday, we had to quarantine for almost two weeks after testing

positive for COVID. And now, the CDC is considering ending its current five-day isolation period.

Under the new guidelines, Americans would no longer need to isolate for five days before returning to work or school.

They would be able to return after being fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

This is the same situation applied to the flu and other respiratory viruses.

There has been some blowback from the medical community with this news.

Doctors don't want people thinking they aren't contagious after just one day without a fever.

They also believe people should be wearing masks if the CDC tells them they can be in public

so early on in their sickness. And there are other health professionals who believe

this is the CDC's easy way out of dealing with COVID rather than advocating for national

paid sick and family leave. Some researchers are worried people will think this means COVID

is not a threat anymore, but this winter, it claimed about 1,500 lives per week.

That new CDC rule that Carthamary just talked about could have saved the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, from getting impeached yesterday.
