I'm Patricia Murphy with a roundup of today's top stories. It's Wednesday, March 26th.

Get your loose stuff inside. It's going to get really windy. There's a severe thunderstorm warning in effect tonight for much of Western Washington.

Here's National Weather Service meteorologist Dana Felton.

So right now, it looks like the best chance for the strong storms are south of Seattle,

but even here in Seattle, we got about a 30% chance of seeing thunderstorms that could produce

wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour and or hail as big as one inch, so like quarter size.

Felton says the storms will likely arrive in the Seattle metro area. Around 6 o'clock,

give or take an hour, today's warmer temperatures will fuel their strength.

The warmer we get, the more unstable the atmosphere gets, and the more unstable the

atmosphere is, the stronger the thunderstorms can be.

Storms are expected to quickly move through our area within a couple of hours and be followed by

scattered showers overnight and tomorrow. Felton says rainfall amounts could be significant.
