It's Wednesday, March 5th. Some walked out in protest. Some cheered on the president.

The response from Washington state political leaders was mixed over President Trump's speech

last night to a joint session of Congress, Seattle Congresswoman Pramilla

Jayapal stood up and left the address after hearing Trump's initial remarks. She says she wanted

to hear what the president had to say. But after hearing him spew lie after lie, racism and xenophobia

at the center of everything I walked out.

Democratic Senator, Patty Murray, opted to skip Trump's speech and held an event with

Washingtonians instead. But listening back, Murray said Trump lied about Social Security and

is letting Elon Musk smash the program. She also slammed the president's new tariffs on

Canada and Mexico, calling them a tax on the public. The views different from Washington State's

Republican Party. Trump's tariff war with Canada and Mexico has caused stock market volatility,

and Washington State GOP chair and state rep Jim Walsh had this to say about
