Donald Trump was disqualified from Colorado's 2024 presidential primary ballot.

I'm Jeff Pierre. It's Wednesday, December 20th. Let's get you

caught up with today seven stories. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled yesterday that Trump engaged an insurrection

during the January 6th attack at the US Capitol in 2021. The court said he should therefore be barred from the presidency.

This ruling was historic and it could be significant.

It's the first time a court has kept a presidential candidate off the ballot under the 14th Amendment.

That's a section of the US Constitution adopted after the Civil War that prevents insurrectionists

from holding office.

Courts and other states are considering similar cases. If other

states rule in the same way as Colorado it would be difficult if not impossible for

Trump to secure the Republican nomination.

But that is a long way off.

Trump plans to appeal to the Supreme Court,

which could end up in the Colorado ruling being reversed.

Colorado is one of more than a dozen states scheduled to hold primaries on March 5th,

also known as Super Tuesday.

The UN is searching for a resolution on Gaza that the US won't veto.

That is number two. The UN Security Council is meeting again today.

It will attempt once more to pass a resolution

calling for a halt in the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The vote has been postponed

twice this week. Diplomats have been reworking the draft resolution in hopes of securing U.S.
