It's Wednesday, August 9th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one, Ohio voted against making it more difficult to amend the state constitution, but the vote was really about abortion rights.

Yesterday, voters decided on issue one. The measure would have raised the threshold for amending the state constitution from a simple majority to 60 percent.

But with about 98 percent of votes counted so far, 57 percent had voted against the proposal. The Mayor of Columbus, Andrew Ginther, spoke about the vote yesterday.

Proud of Ohio, proud of Ohioans who believe in majority rule in one person, one vote.

It's worked well for this state for

111 years and the people came out and sent a very strong message to an extremist

supermajority in the legislature. This was a victory for abortion rights supporters.

Ohio vote on guaranteeing abortion rights in November,

and issue one would have made that a lot harder to pass. Number two, the Supreme Court reinstated restrictions on ghost guns.

Ghost guns are firearms that can be bought online in parts.

You don't need a background check, and the guns don't have serial numbers.

They've been used in deadly shootings nationwide,

and they're increasingly popular with teenagers.

Yesterday, the court voted 5 to 4

to allow the Biden administration's regulations

to remain in place while legal battles continue.
