Let's of course start with another update on Afghanistan.

The US military has successfully locked down the homie cars I airport in Kabul, where they'll

be restarting evacuations for US citizens and Afghan refugees, though it's still unclear

how many special immigrant visas will be able to be provided and at what pace.

There are estimated to be between 5 and 10,000 Americans stuck in your Kabul right now.

Yesterday, the Taliban also gave a press conference where they attempted to portray themselves

as being more moderate than they were in the late 1990s, which is when they enforce extremely

strict social law, including stoning and public executions of women.

They also stated that they would be taking an approach to amnesty to those who had aided

the Afghan government, though the details of what that means have not yet been specified.

They also claim that they'll be guaranteeing all women's rights within the framework of

Islamic law, but that women will be allowed to work, go to school, and join the government.

There were also female anchors shown on one of Afghanistan's major media outlets,

Tolo News yesterday.
