Yesterday President Biden announced three pardons and the commutation of 75 sentences for non-violent

drug offenders.

This is the first use of his clemency powers, and the administration simultaneously announced

new initiatives to help people transition into society after incarceration, including job

training, small business grants for former convicts, and increased support for housing,

health care, and education.

So if there are 40,000 people locked up on weed charges alone, we just have at least 39,925

to go.

In more administration news, Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for COVID yesterday.

Neither President Biden nor the First Lady were considered close contacts in recent days.

I hope that's not meant to imply that they don't hang outside of work.

According to a new report by Harvard University on the school's own past ties to slavery, numerous

faculty, staff, and leaders at Harvard enslave more than 70 people during the 17th and 18th

centuries.

I'm not totally sure it required a whole Harvard study to establish that.

Anyway, in light of these unsavory findings, the university is committing $100 million

to study and remedy its ties to slavery.
