Hello, it's three minutes after ten. I hope you had a lovely weekend. You're listening to James O'Brien on LBC, where I find myself wrestling with the, what would the phrase be?

I want to say something profound.

I want to make a breakthrough.

I want to move to a better understanding of why people behave in the way that they do.

I used to think that it was a period of unprecedented peace that we lived in,

which meant that perhaps the warning that there's a threat just over the horizon

tends to get checked less than it would do in times of genuine peril.

I still think there's something in that.

As you look at some of the movements in the world at the moment,

and you see an awful lot of very, very odd fear, you know.

I mean, you can take it to its most extreme positions, I think,

in the context of everything from believing that mobile phone masts send out dangerous secret rays

or that Bill Gates wants to control your brain or that there's a trafficking ring being run from the basement of a pizza restaurant in New York

that has links to Hillary Clinton.

Am I being grossly unfair on people who are currently unpersuaded

about the importance of wearing a mask in the similar category?
