Summary
Lo is doing an orca deep dive inside the tragic story of a religious weight loss cult. It begins in the affluent suburbs of Brentwood Tennessee with a charismatic kween who made it her life's mission to "help people turn away from their love of food and toward a love of God" Gwen Shamblin Lara rose to fame over the course of 4 decades as a weight-loss champion and best selling author turned religious leader of her own church. As her popularity and fame level began to rise on the national stage, so did her hair and bank account. The Remnant Fellowship Church soon fielded accusations of emotional, psychological, and physical abuse, and exploitation for their alleged cult-like practices.
Lo is joined by fellow crime junkie, Jacob Petway who grew up in Brentwood, TN just minutes away from The Remnant Fellowship Church. The two besties are diving into the dark, twisted waters of cults to give you the Lo down on the critically acclaimed HBO documentary "The Way Down"
