On this day in 1894, Percy Spencer, American physicist and inventor was born.

He would die in 1969, but not before he would invent, among other things, the microwave

oven.

Hey, I worked at a motor home place when I was a kid and we had a great big motor home

that was like a $500,000 motor home and its family had sold a couple that bought into

it and they hadn't been out of the service bay where they checked the motor home out before

they left, but like an hour or so and they came back in, the lady was just completely

distraught and she had decided that she could drive her poodle in a microwave quicker than

she could with a hairdryer, so the guy says, oh man, that poodle just starts hopping

up and down in there and all of a sudden we couldn't get it open and poof, so we had to

change the whole microwave out for the poor lady.
