I'm thinking we were hoping this wasn't going to happen after Will Smith went on stage

and slapped Chris Rock.

But I think comedians kind of knew that it could open the floodgates for people thinking,

well, oh, if Will Smith can do that on stage at the Oscars, well, then I can do that at

anybody's show.

Peter Pell was attacked on stage last night while doing a show at the Hollywood Bowl.

So cell phone video shows a man running across the stage and actually tackling Dave while

doing his act.

There are reports saying the attacker had a gun in a knife, but they were not used in the

attack, but I don't have confirmation of those reports.

And his attacker did try to escape, but then he got tackled by Dave's entourage.

He was taken away in ambulance after being roughed up backstage by the entourage.

So when Dave returned to the stage, he credited Jamie Foxx with helping to apprehend the guy

because he's at the Hollywood Bowl.
