per week and just under 1,000 deaths per day.

Under pressure from Trump's White House, the CDC recommended against testing people who

had been exposed but did not have symptoms.

Even though a new test is coming on board that is cheaper, faster, and easier to manufacture,

scientists confirm that it is possible to get COVID-19 twice with important implications

for how we think about immunity.

It's tempting to pretend like these aren't all connected.

Like our divisive politics, the whole scale denial of science by the party holding the

most power in our political system, or the ineptitude of this country's president hasn't

driven our national failure to take on this pandemic, to lead on climate change, and

to pull us together rather than break us apart.

What COVID-19 is reminding us is that leadership matters, but it's hard to understand exactly

how, when for most of us, we've only really experienced COVID-19 in one country.
