The Michael Berry show Mel's Country Cafe has called us, but it's Phil not Mel

Phil how are you related to Mel? I'm like a distant cousin. Are you the owner? I'm like a distant cousin. Are you the owner?

I'm one of the owners, yeah, there's three of us. There's me,

Mel's husband Jeff, and her brother Charles.

Oh, Mel's a girl.

Yeah, Melody, yeah.

So did y'all open this morning or are you opening at lunch?

We are opening at 11 o'clock in about 40 minutes.

I'm going to be honest with you, Phil.

I called and nobody would answer, and if somebody had walked in that door and said,

hey, Michael Berry's trying to get you on, and one of you had dared to say we're too busy and not me on right now I would be

renting and raving and calling the food inspector but I'm glad you're on because that makes

me crazy. So what's the biggest challenge? How many of the employees you had a year ago because it's hard when you're closed that long were you able to get back?

I'm not really sure because a lot of them went on to take other jobs and you know they're

happy where they are and that's great.

Other what other employees you know just decided it's time to retire and they just went off and

did their things so I'm guessing maybe about half of them are coming back.

It's not like in the godfather or when you leave the family you're out?

No, no, fortunately we're not quite that equal.

And what is your role today?

What are you going to be doing, Phil?

Today, I'm going to be hosting and just kind of managing crowd control because I think it's going to be pretty busy.
