The riots lasted five days. Our whole world turned upside down so quickly.

It was a living nightmare. Worst of all because of what was happening to Mama. The

hell outside in the streets of LA were almost a calm breeze compared to the storm

killed in the eye-weathered. After our return home from school and seeing her

acting like some kind of animal we kept to our room. Scared senseless. We hid

there for hours. For a while I couldn't make a heads or tails of what caused this.

Maybe it was the riots. Were the exhaustion for being up all night and day.

But then I thought of the strange idol that we found and brought home.

Could it be the cause? Keldin, the Lowa, did you see it anywhere? I asked my brother.

I don't remember. I just grabbed what I could. He said just ring to the backpack.

I checked the outer zipper seeing that he had grabbed things like food and flashlights and then

shoved it back to him. Saying as it wasn't helpful I had no need to check the inside zipper.

Then as I burst my lips together there was a soft wrapping at the door. It made me straighten

up and freeze. Not even daring to look towards the knob. Keldin did though and he was trying his best

not to solve as the soft knocking began again. Did we hear it a voice? Ashley? Keldin?

Are you in there? It was Mama. Almost instinctively Keldin shot up to go towards the door,

but I shot him in evil eye and grabbed him and shoved him down. Then I heard Mama

whatever had taken over her body, slowly rake her nails against the door.

I'm sorry that I scared you earlier. Mama wasn't feeling good. She could.

Keldin was doing his best not to cry as I held a finger up to my mouth,

encouraging him to remain quiet. He all need to come out of there.

I need to take you to school, mom said.
