The Lakers battled the Phoenix Suns last night.

Three things that we can take away.

Number one of three, it's threes.

More threes for the Los Angeles Lakers.

They took 40 last night against the Phoenix Suns.

And JJ Redick, new head coach said, that's not enough.

Here's what JJ had to say after the game. He said, screening was something I really emphasized and I thought in the first half we did a good job screening. He's not wrong. That allowed us to get some layups. It allowed us to get some threes. It allowed us to get some overreactions to the basketball. To be clear, I'm okay with paint twos in any facet. I don't think you want to live on a diet of 10 to 15 foot floaters in a game,

particularly if you don't have a Jalen Brunson on your team. If you look at it for us and our group to take

43s in a game, that's promising. We can get it up to 50 hopefully but 40 was good 50 50 50

50 50 j jreddick says we're going to take 53s in a game and that 40 was just promising oh okay all right

we need to put this in a little bit of context. Check this out. So this is the NBA last season in terms of three point attempts. And JJ's right. Look, the Lakers need to shoot more threes. There's no question. Check this out. 37.7% from three. The Lakers ranked eighthth in the NBA in three-point shooting.

That's pretty darn good.

But then remember, they had those wonky lineups, and it took them a while before they

actually started playing Rui, LeBron, A.D., Austin, Delo, together, you know, the lineup

that makes the most sense to play, it took them a while before Darvinham actually

started playing that lineup.

So without Cam Reddish in the rotation, without the guys who struggle shooting threes, no Jared Vanderbilt struggles, but he'll, of course, be part of the rotation. But once the non-shooters were pushed to the wayside, take a look at what happened to the Lakers three-point percentage. Look at that. Third in the NBA last season after the All-Star break in three-point

percentage. And that is basically the time period where Darwin shifted to a more sensible starting

lineup. Third in the NBA. Now, the problem, though, the problem, though, is that when we look at

on the season, we take a look at the entire season and we take a look at the three point
