Hi, welcome to the Christian Science Daily Lift.

Today we have an encore lift from John Biggs, a Christian science practitioner from Manistee, Michigan.

I was making some mac and cheese in my kitchen and I was a little too hasty in getting the pot off the sink,

and I spilled a great big portion of that boiling water all over my foot.

And talk about the immediate sensation of struggle and discomfort.

And it was so funny because this passage came to mind about the story of the Pharisees

bringing Jesus before Pilate.

And the Pharisees say, well, if he wasn't guilty, we wouldn't have brought him.

And I guess in the moment, I can see how that

would have seemed, oh, yeah, that's true. Like, why would you have gone to the trouble to bring him here if he

wasn't guilty? I guess so. But if you really think about it, that's so wrong. And I sort of

translated that for myself. If I wasn't burned, then I wouldn't hurt so much.

But I realized, well, gosh, that is not a statement of justice when the Pharisees were talking.

And so I didn't look at my foot or try to do anything to it.

I turned to God to a sense of present love.

I turned to my sense of assurance that love was there.

My father, mother, God was there to see what he was doing,

to see what was really happening here.

And it was just a wonderful thing because I just felt a complete, almost immediate

lessening of the pain. And I also lost any fascination with the circumstance. I just was so

grateful that justice was indeed there, and that just because I'd been given some evidence of

something didn't mean that the evidence was legitimate. The status and the presence of God
