Hey, this is Durey and welcome to Potsy of the People.

I'm particularly excited about this episode.

We have Tom Dart, the sheriff of the Cook County Jail in Chicago, the largest jail in the

country.

We also have Lee Harris, a legislator from Tennessee who's going to talk to us about

drug-free school zones and there's so much I learned in this episode.

And we have the news with me, Brittany, Clint, and Sam as we do every week.

Before we begin, I'll say two things.

One is that we can all win.

That my light doesn't have to dim for yours to shine and your light doesn't have to dim

for mine to shine.

That at our best, we figure how to build each other up.

And I think about coalitions, coalitions are this idea that we believe in the same world.

We might not always agree about how we get there, but we believe in a world that is possible

in a world that's not yet come.

And one of the things I've seen happen so much, not only in the organizing community, but

in general is that there's a false competition that comes and we can all be fighters for

justice.

We can all be fighters for equity.

We can all be fighters for a world that is one where everybody can win.

The second thing I'll say is I was reminded that I was raised by magic in so many ways.

It was X-Men and cartoons and the giver, the book, which changed my life, that helped
