Song of Solomon, chapter 2, verse 16,

My beloved belongs to me and I belong to him.

Is that not a beautiful picture of belonging in marriage?

That you belong to one another?

First Corinthians 7 talks about this as well,

that a husband and wife, their bodies belong to each other.

This beautiful picture of union that God has created in marriage,

this sense of belonging that let's be honest,

there is an adversary who wants us to feel alone in marriage.

And many people do, many husbands and wives.

And I'm guessing some who are listening to this right now,

feel a sense of aloneness in marriage,

which is obviously not God's design.

And so I want to lead us to pray for this sense of belonging

and maybe in some marriages for a recovery of this sense of belonging,

that this posture in marriage would mark us,

would mark each of us as a spouse,

to look at this other person and say,

I belong to that person, they belong to me.

Therefore I want to take full responsibility for caring for them,

for loving them, for honoring, respecting them,
