If you've been married for any length of time, you have probably thought, where did that come from?

As you've talked to married couples what are some of the things that you heard them say with regard to where did that come from and I wish I'd known.

I would say often what I hear about and of course they're coming in for a reason because

something's not working.

People don't seek you out if it's all going great.

No one goes.

No one comes to marriage counseling typically.

I mean some people come in because they want encouragement,

but most people come in because something's not working.

Often it's conflict management and many people will say,

why didn't anybody teach us this,

how to have healthy conflict,

how to communicate in healthy ways, how to care for our own individual

selves in our own hearts. And so often they're saying why didn't our

premarital counseling prepare us for this, you know, really how to do this thing called marriage well.

And it's never too late to learn and grow and so I love when couples come in and strengthen and bolster the first year of marriage because it's

going to influence how the years beyond that go. Yeah and there is so much to

learn and so many good role models and resources out there.
