All right, John chapter 12 is where we are this morning. If you have your Bibles, I'm going to read the first

eight verses. John chapter 12, starting at verse 1. It says, then six days before the Passover,

Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he had raised from the dead.

And there they made him a supper, and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.

And then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of Spike Nard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair, and the house

was filled with the fragrance of the oil. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's

son, who would betray him, said, why was this fragrant oil not sold for 300 denari and given to the

poor? This, he said, not that he cared for the poor,

Lord, we thank you for your word. We pray, God, you'd use this story to speak to our hearts.

We pray that we would have open eyes to see and ears to hear and hearts to receive what you would say to us today.

Well, we come again to the same family that headlined our Bible study last week from

Chapter 11, three adult siblings who live together in the same home in Bethany,

Mary, Martha, and their brother Lazarus. This is the same Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the dead.

That was the topic of our study last week. But now the scene is different.

The scene this time, instead of a funeral, it's a dinner party, and there at the dinner party

is the dead guy. I mean, what an amazing dinner party that must be to have somebody was once

dead. He's sitting there with a t-shirt saying, I was dead, and I lived to tell about it. And here the three of them are, and they are hosting a dinner party in honor of the one
