Breaking news overnight as the Senate releases a bipartisan report on the security failures behind the January 6th attack on the Capitol.

I'm Casey Hunt on this Tuesday, January 8th. We'll start

with the news. A bipartisan Senate investigation of the January 6th Capitol insurrection

highlights the intelligence and personnel failures leading up to and throughout the attack.

The just-released report conducted by both the Senate Rules Committee and the Homeland Security

and Governmental Affairs Committee details just how ill-equipped and under-prepared the Capitol Police Force was when they were defending the building and the people inside it.

According to the report, of the seven civil service civil disturbance units that were deployed,

only four had the protective equipment they needed. Some of it was locked in a bus.

From interviews included in the report, one reads, quote, an officer reported hearing a lieutenant

repeatedly ask over the radio, does anybody have a plan? The probe also found that neither the

FBI nor the DHS issued a threat assessment warning of potential violence

targeting the Capitol that day. The committee lays out a list of future recommendations,

including restructuring of security measures that would allow the Capitol Police Chief

to request National Guard assistance immediately. Much of the information included in the 93-page
