A ceasefire is now underway between Israel and Hamas after 11 straight days of fighting between the two sides.

With Egypt mediating, leaders voted yesterday to end the violence that's killed at least 230 Palestinians

and 12 Israelis since last Monday. Both sides claimed victory in the conflict, while warning

that attacks could resume if the other side fails to comply with the ceasefire. Here in the U.S.,

President Biden pledged support for both Israel and Gaza.

I believe the Palestinians and Israelis equally deserve to live safely and securely

and enjoy equal measures of freedom, prosperity, and democracy.

My administration will continue our quiet, relentless diplomacy toward that end.

I believe we have a genuine opportunity to make progress, and I'm committed to working for it.
